The greater Athens-Piraeus area’s only permanent amusement park on Tuesday announced that it was suspending operation, attributing the decision to a recent three-month closure ordered by the municipality, Rentis, where it is located.
The surprise announcement essentially closes the doors of the Allou Fun Park and its affiliated Kidom, which for 23 years was the most popular such attraction in Greece, rollercoaster rides, carnival games, inflatable playgrounds and events for entertainment purposes.
In the announcement, the management of the amusement park calls the decision of the municipality of Rentis to order a three-month closing as “improper and legally unfounded.”
At the same time, the company that operates the park charged that it was “…confronted with a systematic disinformation emanating from external factors, which constantly aimed to damage it, eventually leading to a suspension of its operation.”
The amusement park is located southwest of downtown Athens in the Rentis district along the Kifissos thoroughfare, comprising a portion of the inland Piraeus agglomeration.
