Greeks all over the world celebrated Independence Day on March 25 with many events commemorating the special day taking place.
Before the away game of the Buck against the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA, a Greek Orthodox Church put on a cultural performance pregame in Portland, with the stands flooded with the blue and white Greek flags and kids wearing Giannis Antetokounmpo jerseys.

“Greekness” filled the atmosphere with young kids, dressed in traditional costumes, dancing to the tunes of Anastasia’s “For Greece” (Gia tin Ellada) blasting in the background just before the tip-off.
Giannis was not present as he and the Bucks are engaged in a public spat about his injury status.
The Bucks continued their poor form, losing to the home team 130-99, dropping to 29-43.
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump honored the day by inviting Archbishop Elpidophoros and prominent members of the Greek-American community to the White House in an annual celebratory event.
