Building activity in Greece appeared to rebound last September, compared to the same month in 2024, with total building activity (private-public) rising on the back of building permits (up 12.5%), building surface (6.5%) and volume (5.1%).
In absolute terms, the number of building permits issued in September 2025 reached 2,549, of which permits for public building activity were 25.
According to the country’s statistics authority (EL.STAT), total building activity (private-public) in Greece, calculated on the basis of the number of issued building permits, amounted to 29,555. The figure corresponds to 6.56 million meters of surface and 30.25 million square meters of volume.
In comparison with the corresponding period from October 2023 until September 2024, there is a 2.4% decrease in the number of building permits, a 7.1% decrease in surface and a 4.2% decrease in volume.
