Albanian PM Edi Rama in Athens This Week

A possible time and venue for a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis being discussed; Rama in Greece for annual Delphi Economic Forum

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is scheduled to visit Greece this week to attend sessions of the annual Delphi Economic Forum, with ongoing diplomatic contacts exploring the possibility of a meeting in Athens with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

According to reports, the two sides have been in continuous communication over the past 24 hours to determine whether Mitsotakis’ schedule can accommodate a formal meeting, as request submitted by Tirana.

Rama is scheduled to deliver an address at the Delphi Economic Forum on Wednesday afternoon.

Given both leaders will be speaking at the forum, held in the same-name and eponymous Delphi site in south-central Greece, within about half an hour of each other, this is currently seen as the most likely venue for a face-to-face meeting.

Other potential time slots are Tuesday in Athens, upon Rama’s arrival, or Thursday before his departure, as Mitsotakis is due to attend an informal EU summit in Nicosia later that day.

As of Monday afternoon, only a brief meeting between the two leaders in Delphi appears confirmed, although efforts are ongoing to arrange a more formal meeting at the Greek prime minister’s Maximos Mansion office.
