Greece and the United States are moving to deepen their defense cooperation following a new agreement linking the country with the Florida National Guard under the State Partnership Program.
The development was discussed during a meeting in Athens between Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias and U.S. Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle, focusing on strengthening strategic military relations between the two countries.
Strengthening bilateral defense ties
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing long-standing defense cooperation. The agreement with the Florida National Guard is seen as a key step in expanding collaboration within the framework of the State Partnership Program, a U.S. initiative aimed at building military partnerships with allied nations.
Dendias also asked the U.S. ambassador to convey his appreciation to U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for the continued cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries.

The Greek defense minister highlighted the role of Ambassador Guilfoyle in facilitating the agreement, praising her contribution to advancing bilateral defense relations and maintaining close cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense.
