According to a statement shared by Athens on social media, Mr. Gerapetritis emphasized Greece’s “steadfast support for Ukraine, which continues to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.” He also underlined the urgent need for a fair and lasting peace based on international law.

During the meeting, the Greek minister expressed his government’s readiness to step up the provision of humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. The discussion reaffirmed Greece’s position as a consistent supporter of Ukraine within the European Union, both politically and through practical measures of solidarity.

This meeting took place as the EU agreed to completely halt Russian gas imports by 2028, underscoring the EU’s broader strategy to reduce energy dependence on Moscow while reinforcing collective support for Kyiv.
