Greek authorities launched a targeted raid on the IT department of OPEKEPE on Wednesday, focusing on electronic records of 2025 agricultural subsidy applications.
The operation, carried out by the Economic Police with support from forensic specialists, follows a preliminary investigation into potentially fraudulent claims for farm subsidies. An official order was issued to seize all relevant electronic data to allow thorough cross-checking with previous years’ applications.
This action continues a wider investigation that began in the summer, during which authorities had already confiscated OPEKEPE’s servers. At that time, it was noted that applications for 2025 had not yet been entered into the electronic system.
Officials described the latest seizure as necessary to detect any attempts to illegally claim subsidies in 2025. The investigation remains active, with authorities scrutinizing digital footprints and records to identify potential wrongdoing.
OPEKEPE oversees agricultural funding in Greece, and the probe highlights ongoing concerns about subsidy fraud and financial oversight in the country’s farming sector.
