Marc Poll: ND Ahead of PASOK by 16.5% Points

Former PM Alexis Tsipras re-emerges in the question of voters' preference for premier

Ruling New Democracy (ND) party exceeds the 30%-percentage point mark in the latest opinion poll to be released this week, enjoying a 16%-point lead over its nearest rival, PASOK.

An extrapolation of results of a Marc opinion poll shows center-right ND (at 30.5%) losing half a percentage point from the last poll by the same firm, with socialist/social democrat PASOK gaining half a percentage point.

The latest Marc poll also includes former prime minister Alexis Tsipras in a question of who respondents prefer for the premier post, with the latter given 24.3% of respondents’ preference, 9.6% percentage points behind incumbent Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The Marc results show eight parties entering Parliament if a general election was held on Sunday.

The Mitsotakis government is given a positive rating by 35.8% of respondents, with the main opposition, i.e. PASOK, 23.1%.

The most pressing issue for a large majority of respondents, 67.7%, is the high cost-of-living.
