Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday afternoon, the former’s office announced.
According to reports, the two leaders discussed recent developments in Ukraine, amid the ongoing Russian invasion of the country, and ahead of an upcoming European Council meeting next week in Brussels to again focus on the conflict.
The Greek prime minister’s press office added that Mitsotakis briefed Zelensky over Monday’s “Summit for Peace”, which was held in the southern Sinai Peninsula resort of Sharm El-Sheikh, which sealed a deal to end the Israel-Gaza war.
The Greek government, and Mitsotakis personally, has been among the more vocal supporters of Ukraine in the conflict that began with the Russian invasion in February 2022.
