Greek F-16s Intercept Turkish Drone South of Alexandroupoli

A civilian flight was affected during the encounter

A Turkish drone was intercepted by Greek F-16s south of Alexandroupoli and returned to Turkey’s FIR.

The incident occurred around 08:30 on Friday, when a Turkish unmanned aircraft entered the terminal airspace of Alexandroupoli airport.

Two Greek fighter jets scrambled immediately, and a civilian flight that was in the final approach process at the time was instructed to change altitude to avoid crossing paths with the Turkish drone. The civilian flight was not in danger at any point.

After intercepting the drone, the Greek fighter jets escorted it out of the Athens FIR.
