The ruling New Democracy (ND) apparently got a fillip from a series of major energy-related agreements and initiatives that were finalized and unveiled, respectively, this month, while still failing to dent citizens’’ concerns over the cost of living in the country, according to results of the most recent opinion poll unveiled on Thursday.
Along those lines, both ND and main opposition PASOK party appeared as gaining in this month’s edition of the Pulse firm’s opinion poll, which was presented on the prime-time newscast of Skai TV.
In terms of nagging cost of living hikes, 87% of respondents said they face such a problem.
Asked their voting preference, and extrapolated from results, center-right ND retains a 16%-point lead over socialist-social democrat PASOK, namely, 30% to 14%, respectively. The right-of-center Elliniki Lysi (Greek Solution) party comes in third with 10%
Additionally, 56% of respondents consider that the government faces difficulties in dealing with a farm subsidies (OPEKEPE) scandal.
The survey was conducted between Nov. 16 and 18 on a sample of 1,150 respondents.
