The United States Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, welcomed the US Permanent Representative to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, during his official visit to the country.
The meeting was part of a broader set of engagements, which also included discussions with Greece’s Foreign Minister, George Gerapetritis. The visit was described as “historic” by Guilfoyle in a public message shared on social media.
In her statement, the US ambassador highlighted the strong ties between the United States and Greece, referring to the country as a “steadfast ally.” She emphasized the shared commitment to promoting “peace through strength,” a principle often associated with defense cooperation and strategic deterrence.

Guilfoyle also underlined the importance of maintaining robust defense spending and enhancing the security of NATO’s southern flank — a region considered critical due to its geopolitical position.
