Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has acquired an equity stake in IM8, the health sciences company co-founded by former football star and current co-owner of Florida-based MLS club Miami Inter, David Beckham and health sciences firm Prenetics.
IM8, which sells nutritional supplements targeting everyday health habits, launched in December 2024 and says it reached $100 million in annualized revenue within 11 months. Financial terms of Antetokounmpo’s investment were not disclosed.
“I can open doors to markets and communities that IM8 might not reach on its own,” Antetokounmpo said. “But more than being a face, I want to be a voice inside the company — asking the questions consumers would ask, making sure the product stays at the level it needs to be.”
The investment follows a broader trend of elite athletes backing health and wellness companies. Tennis star Serena Williams became both an investor and celebrity ambassador for weight-loss company Ro last year, alongside Tom Brady and former NBA player Charles Barkley. IM8’s current roster of athlete partners includes world number one tennis player Aryna Sabalenka and British Formula 1 driver Ollie Bearman.
CEO and co-founder Danny Yeung told Bloomberg the company aims to become a major global supplement brand within the next three to five years.
