Denmark Dominates World Cup Qualifier Against Home Side Greece, 0-3 (Video)

The Danes thoroughly dominated the game after the 20th minute and were highly effective in exploiting their scoring opportunities, as opposed to the Greek players, who had fewer and less threatening attempts.

Denmark delivered a 0-3 thumping to home side Greece on Monday evening for the UEFA World Cup Qualifiers, days after the latter had itself scored five goals against a hapless Belarus.

The Danes thoroughly dominated the game after the 20th minute and were highly effective in exploiting their scoring opportunities, as opposed to the Greek players, who had fewer and less threatening attempts.

Brentford star midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard opened the score in the 32nd minute after a dribbling error and lost ball by Greek midfielder Dimitris Kourbelis, with A. Christensen doubling the Danes’ tally in the second half (62nd minute). R. Højlund sealed the game with a third goal in the 81st minute.

The Danish side, in fact, had the opportunity to score a fourth goal in the waning minutes of the match at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium. Tellingly, Greece’s keeper, Konstantinos Tzolakis, was possibly the best player for the national side.

The Greek national team will next face Scotland on Oct. 9 at Hampden Park. Denmark and Scotland top the standings in Group C with four points, with Greece following at three.
