Greek football champions Olympiacos Piraeus defeated Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 at the Karaiskakis stadium on Tuesday night for the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.
The Reds went up early after Costinha headed home in the 2nd minute. The early goal allowed the Greek team to settle in better and dominate the first half, although keeper Tzolakis was forced to make some crucial saves before Taremi scored the second goal before the teams left the pitch for the half-time break.
The victory, the second in a row, bumped the Reds up to 23rd spot on the table with eight points. Olympiacos will travel to Amsterdam for the scheduled game against Ajax on January 28th.
