Greek Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou won the men’s long jump at the Diamond League meeting in Lausanne on Friday evening, adding another victory to a remarkable 2026 season with an 8.24-meter best jump.
The two-time Olympic champion opened with 8.04 meters (+2.2) before producing his decisive second-round jump of 8.24 (+2.1), quickly establishing a lead he would not relinquish.
Tentoglou followed with 8.10 (+0.9) and 8.17 (+1.2) before passing on his final two attempts after effectively securing first place.
Switzerland’s Simon Ehammer posed the strongest challenge, reaching 8.13 meters (+1.3), but could not overtake the Greek. Serbia’s Luka Bošković finished third with 8.07 (+0.5).
The victory comes after an extraordinary run for Tentoglou this summer. Earlier this month, he won his fourth consecutive European outdoor long-jump title in Birmingham, producing 8.44 meters into a headwind to defeat Ehammer and Bulgaria’s Bozhidar Saraboyukov. That victory extended a European championship streak dating to 2022 and made Tentoglou the first man to win four successive European outdoor long-jump titles, matching Germany’s Heike Drechsler’s feat in the women’s event.
His Birmingham triumph followed a 2026 season in which Tentoglou had already established himself as the world’s leading long jumper, including an exceptional 8.61-meter jump in Monaco in July.
At 28, Tentoglou now has two Olympic gold medals, two world titles, two world indoor titles and four European outdoor titles, further strengthening his status as one of the most decorated long jumpers of his generation.
