But is democracy in “motion” or in danger? In these politically turbulent times, as long-standing geopolitical equilibria are reset and Europe embarks on a search for new momentum, our young people take the floor.
The concepts of voting, democracy, citizenship, participation, solidarity, all the achievements that have breathed life into the vision of the European Union, will be celebrated on Europe Day this year with a newspaper written by young people.
In collaboration with the European Parliament’s office in Greece, its head Konstantinos Tsoutsoplidis and his team, as well as students and their teachers from four EU countries (Spain, Germany, Malta, Cyprus) and schools from four Greek regions, TO BHMA asks the youth of today to share their ideas, fears, visions and hopes.
The students whose words you will read on the following pages are all members of the EPAS network (European Parliament Advocacy Schools); they chose the reports, research and historical documentation included here on the basis of its relevance to our democracies and the dangers confronting them. We thank and welcome them.
