Erdogan Issues Threats in New Year’s Message

Erdogan pointed to significant developments in Turkey and around the world, noting that the country continues to move forward with confidence.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued fresh threats in a recorded message on New Year’s Eve, reiterating the doctrine of the so-called “Blue Homeland.”

“We will never tolerate faits accomplis, theft or piracy in our ‘Blue Homeland,’” Erdogan said in his New Year’s address, stressing that Turkey is closely monitoring provocations and threats against the country’s interests and those of Turkish Cypriots in the Eastern Mediterranean.

At the same time, the Turkish president paid tribute to the heroes and veterans who sacrificed their lives for the security and prosperity of the state and its 86 million citizens.

Reflecting on the past year, Erdogan pointed to significant developments in Turkey and around the world, noting that despite wars, crises and tensions, the country continues to move forward with confidence.

He also highlighted what he described as the positive results of Turkey’s economic programme, saying that central bank reserves are strengthening, while production, investment, employment and exports are rising. “We are breaking records in many areas, from tourism to the defence industry,” he added.
