FBI Foils New Year’s Eve Terror Plot in North Carolina

U.S. authorities prevented an 18-year-old from carrying out a knife attack targeting civilians and responding police, inspired by ISIS, in a planned New Year’s Eve assault

U.S. authorities announced they successfully stopped a planned terrorist attack in North Carolina set for New Year’s Eve. The 18-year-old suspect, identified as Kristian Stardivant from Mid Hill, allegedly drew inspiration from the Islamic State and intended to use knives and hammers in an attack targeting civilians and law enforcement.

The Department of Justice revealed that the FBI, during a search of Stardivant’s home, discovered a handwritten note titled “New Year’s Eve 2026 Attack,” which outlined plans to injure up to 20 victims and confront police officers responding to the scene.

Stardivant is currently charged with providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization but has not admitted to the allegations.
