A repatriation flight organized by Greece’s foreign ministry for Greek citizens who faced difficulties leaving the UAE with their pets finally departed from Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
A chartered aircraft took off on Wednesday afternoon, with the Aegean Airlines flight is expected to land in Greece at approximately at roughly 19.00 Athens time.
The flight had originally been scheduled for Monday but was postponed due to the tense situation prevailing in the Gulf region following the Israeli and US strikes against Iranian targets and leadership, and subsequent Iranian retaliation. Targets in the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait, among others, were targeted by the Iranians.
A total of 101 people and 45 pets are on board, the vast majority of which will be accommodated in the cabin.
