Trump Says He’ll Meet Putin in Hungary for Ukraine Talks

The US president, fresh from his diplomatic triumph in achieving a Gaza ceasefire and return of the hostages, referred to a 'very productive' phone call with the Russian leader

US President Donald Trump says he will meet Russia’s Vladimir Putin in Hungary for more talks on ending the war in Ukraine, following a “very productive” phone call between the pair, according to the BBC.

Trump says fresh talks will be held between “high level advisers” next week, led on the US side by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

A Putin aide added that the talks were “positive” and the next steps were “clear”.

The conversation comes a day before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is due to visit Trump at the White House.

The BBC said the Zelensky is likely to ask Washington to provide long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine to help fight Russia – something that Trump has previously said he’s considering.
