Trump Says Suspect in Charlie Kirk’s Killing Is In Custody

The U.S. president told Fox News authorities are confident the Utah shooter is detained, while urging his supporters to respond peacefully despite his fierce rhetoric against the “radical left.”

U.S. President Donald Trump said  on Fox & Friends this morning  that authorities believe “with great certainty” the suspect who fatally shot conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah is in custody.

Speaking earlier at the White House, Trump again lashed out at the “radical left,” declaring: “We must defeat the radical left psychopaths. We must hit them hard.”

However, he stressed that his supporters’ response must remain peaceful, adding: “Charlie Kirk was not in favor of violence. That’s how I want people to react.”

Trump also confirmed his intention to attend Kirk’s funeral. Kirk, founder of the conservative group Turning Point USA, was shot dead on Wednesday while giving a speech at a Utah university.

Kirk’s body was flown to Phoenix aboard Air Force Two, accompanied by Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, as a show of support to Kirk’s widow. The date of the funeral has not yet been announced.
