NATO air defense systems in the eastern Mediterranean intercepted a second ballistic missile fired from Iran that entered the airspace of Turkey, the Turkish Defense Ministry said on Monday.
According to the ministry, the missile was shot down after crossing into Turkish airspace, marking the second time in the past week that an Iranian ballistic missile has targeted the NATO member state.

Authorities said parts of the missile’s ammunition fell in the southeastern Turkish province of Gaziantep. Officials reported no casualties following the incident.
In its statement, the Turkish Defense Ministry warned that it would take the necessary steps “without hesitation” in response to threats to the country’s airspace and security. It also called on all parties involved to heed Ankara’s warnings.
