Anna Vissi Hails Greece’s Basketball Heroes at Concert

Before 60,000 fans in Athens, pop icon Anna Vissi celebrated Greece’s national basketball team for their EuroBasket bronze win against Finland

Greek pop legend Anna Vissi turned her Athens concert into a celebration not only of music but also of sport, congratulating Greece’s national basketball team for winning bronze at EuroBasket 2025.

Performing at the historic Panathenaic Stadium—known as the Kallimarmaro—Vissi drew a massive crowd for the second night in a row. The two back-to-back concerts, held over the weekend, attracted more than 120,000 fans in total, with both shows selling out in record time.

The timing of Sunday night’s performance added an extra layer of excitement, coming just hours after Greece’s national team defeated Finland to secure third place in the European championship.

As the crowd waved Greek flags, Vissi paused mid-song to pay tribute to the athletes. “The national team took off. These kids are flying—sing for them!” she exclaimed while performing her hit Psychedelia. The stadium erupted in cheers, with thousands of fans applauding the team’s triumph.
