Entry into museums and archaeological sites around Greece – ones managed directly by the culture ministry – will be free on Sunday, Nov. 2, inaugurating an initiative whereby no fee is charged for the first and third Sundays of every month between November and March.
The main exception is the Acropolis Museum beneath the south side of the emblematic archaeological site, as the latter is managed by a separate public sector organization.
Free entry is also foreseen on the Oct. 28 national holiday (OXI Day), April 18 and May 18 (International Museum Day), the last weekend of September (European Heritage Days) and March 6, the anniversary of the death of former Greek culture minister Melina Mercouri.
For the Acropolis Museum, the most visited in the country, free entry dates are March 6, the March 25 Greek Independence Day, May 18 and Oct. 28.
