Morrissey Cancels Athens Concert—What Fans Need to Know

Disappointment awaits Morrissey fans who had been eagerly anticipating his July 16 performance at Plateia (Square) Nerou, as part of the Release Athens Festival. Organizers have announced the show’s cancellation, citing an injury to a member of the artist’s band.

According to a statement from Release Athens organizers, the injury has also led to the cancellation of Morrissey’s scheduled performance in Serbia.

Despite the cancellation, the show on July 16 will go ahead with British rock bands Supergrass and The Damned, who will take the stage as planned. All current ticket holders will be granted free entry to this event. Additionally, new tickets will be made available to the public at a reduced price of 25 euros.

What Ticket Holders Can Do

Fans who had purchased tickets specifically for Morrissey have several options:

• Attend the July 16 concert featuring Supergrass & The Damned.
• Exchange their ticket for one of the remaining four days of Release Athens 2025:

o July 11: London Grammar, AURORA, Klangphonics
o July 18: Kylie Minogue, Loreen
o July 19: Gojira, While She Sleeps, Lacuna Coil                                                                                                        o July 23: Dream Theater, Mastodon, Haken

• Use their ticket for Beth Gibbons’ concert at Lycabettus Hill (subject to availability, on a first-come, first-served basis).                                                                                                                                                             • Opt for a full refund, available from July 23, to be processed within 15 working days.
