Artist Raúl de Nieves’ exhibition Venus in Us is on view through September 5 at Gallery Dio Choria in Athens, presenting an immersive environment in which the body becomes a site of transformation, devotion and exchange.

Through sculpture, painting, beaded compositions, textile works and installations, de Nieves approaches Venus as a living force that shapes experiences of desire and collectivity. The works develop organically, suggesting an ongoing process of transformation and a connection between the sacred and the everyday.
The exhibition examines unseen truths that shape human life beneath the surface of appearances, proposing change as a constant companion to existence. Beauty emerges as both a demanding and transformative process, while adornment takes on the role of armor or offering.
Venus in Us is on view at Gallery Dio Choria in the Acropolis area of Athens through September 5. Admission is free.
De Nieves has presented solo exhibitions at international institutions including the Baltimore Museum of Art, Henry Art Gallery, Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, SCAD Museum of Art and APALAZZO Gallery.
His work has also been included in exhibitions and presentations including the 2017 Whitney Biennial and documenta 14, as well as projects at MoMA PS1, Performa, The High Line, Hauser & Wirth, ICA Philadelphia, The Watermill Center, The Kitchen, Pioneer Works and Jeffrey Deitch.
His work is held in the public collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles and the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston.
