The lion’s share of Greek wine exports—a whopping 86.6% by value for 2023—continued to head to the European Union, with the top five markets being Germany, Cyprus, France, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Wine exports from Greece continued to rebound gradually in 2023 after a two-year pandemic-related downturn, according to the Hellenic Statistics Authority (EL.STAT).

The value of exports rose to nearly 99.7 million euros in 2023, up from 99 million euros in 2022. In absolute terms, the quantities dropped year-on-year, with 28,853 tons of wine exported in 2023 compared to nearly 29,900 the previous year.

However, 2022 witnessed a 16.75% hike in wine exports, driven mostly by the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions that cut export demand in 2020 and 2021.
