The signing of seven bilateral agreements envisioning cooperation in several fields was the carefully scripted result of a closely watched meeting in Ankara on Wednesday between visiting Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and host Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Both leaders, in fact, emphasized the need to keep channels of communications open, with dialogue being a primary condition for stability and progress in bilateral ties.
The signed agreements range from investments to civil defense to technology. Specifically, they are:
- A joint Declaration between the government of the Hellenic Republic and the government of the Republic of Turkey.
- A memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of culture.
- A joint declaration on cooperation between the ministries of foreign affairs of Greece and Turkey within the framework of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization.
- A joint declaration on the cooperation between “Enterprise Greece” and “Invest in Turkiye”.
- A joint declaration on the launch of the bilateral cooperation program in research and technology.
- A joint declaration on the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the field of earthquake preparedness.
- A joint declaration on the launch of a coastal ferry connection between the ports of Thessaloniki and Izmir.
