Police have cordoned off a major avenue in downtown Athens after a bomb threat call at the Hellenic Parliament.

Authorities are currently evacuating the building and conducting thorough security checks as the situation unfolds. Police forces have cordoned off Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, the main road in front of the Parliament.

A bomb disposal unit and fire department crews have rushed to the scene. So far, no suspicious items have been found.

According to initial reports, the anonymous caller contacted the emergency line 112 but provided no further information.
