Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call to discuss deepening cooperation on military support and post-war reconstruction. The conversation, which Zelensky publicly acknowledged, focused on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense systems and exploring ways for Greece to contribute to Ukraine’s recovery.
Air Defense a Priority Amid Escalating Attacks
Zelensky emphasized the urgency of enhancing Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, noting that Russian strikes have grown increasingly aggressive. He highlighted a new NATO-coordinated initiative for purchasing American weapons, stressing that contributions from each allied nation can significantly strengthen Ukraine’s frontline forces.
Greek Proposal to Rebuild Odessa Port
One of the key points of the discussion was Mitsotakis’s proposal to assist in the reconstruction of Ukraine’s vital port infrastructure in Odessa. Zelensky described the initiative as a promising step toward rebuilding the country’s logistics and transport networks, particularly in Southeastern Europe.

The two leaders agreed that their respective teams will begin working on the implementation of this proposal.
President Zelensky concluded his message by thanking Greece and Prime Minister Mitsotakis for their continued and determined support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and defense efforts, stating, “Thank you for your readiness to do more.”
