Mitsotakis Receives First Aid After Minor Bicycle Accident

Greek prime minister sustains a minor hand injury and abrasions after falling while cycling in western Crete

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the first aid station at a hospital in Chania (Hania) Crete on Monday after suffering a minor accident while riding a bicycle, according to reports.

Based on the latter, the prime minister sustained a minor injury to his hand as well as abrasions on several parts of his body after falling to the ground. Hospital staff provided first aid and determined that he did not need to remain at the hospital for further treatment.

During his brief stay, Mitsotakis spoke with other patients as well as doctors and nursing staff.

More recently, and in his capacity as prime minister instead of patient, he has visited hospitals across Greece as part of his government’s efforts to upgrade the National Health System, including the University General Hospital of Heraklion (Irakleio) in Crete in 2021 and several Athens hospitals in 2025 and 2026.
