Mitsotakis With CDU Leader, Chancellor Candidate Merz in Berlin

Greek Prime Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived in the German capital for a European People's Party (EPP) summit, where he met separately with Merz and EP President Roberta Metsola

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party leader and candidate for chancellor Friedrich Merz on Friday, on the sidelines of a European People’s Party (EPP) summit in Berlin.
According to reports out of the German capital, the two men discussed European issues, especially the economy and the Union’s competitiveness.
Merz also reportedly briefed the Greek premier on the CDU’s campaign program and planks. Defense-related issues were also discussed, with Mitsotakis reiterating the need for common European funding of major defense projects that mutually affect member-states, i.e. such as a new Europe-wide anti-aircraft system.

While in Berlin, Mitsotakis also met with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
