Results from an opinion poll presented on Monday evening by an Athens-area television channel have a vast majority of respondents (85.4%) are concerned about possible repercussions in Greece from the conflict in Iran and the Middle East.
In terms of the domestic front, 55.1% of respondents said they will choose a party for political stability in the next general elections, with ruling New Democracy (ND) rising to 31.4% in terms of voters’ preference.
The poll was conducted by the firm Opinion Poll and presented on the Action24 channel.
In terms of other results, incumbent Kyriakos Mitsotakis is projected to win a third straight term in office by 56.6% of respondents. The victory projection for conservative ND stands at 61.1%, with second-place and main opposition PASOK at just 3.3%.
Based on the results, the poll predicts a seven-party parliament, with Yanis Varoufakis’ left-wing MeRA25 narrowly missing entry into the legislature.
Meanwhile, prospective new parties founded by Maria Karystianou and ex-PM Alexis Tsipras show declining trends.
Specifically, the ruling party picked up 2.5 percentage points compared to the January poll by the same firm, reaching 31.4% (up from 29%).
