Prof. Sotiris Serbos Announced as PM’s Foreign Policy Adviser

The Democritus University academic spoke to the BHMA International edition for a feature entitled 'Regional Scrutiny Over Possible Trump2.0; Kamala Harris Admin', in August 2024

Prof. Sotiris Serbos has been appointed as an adviser to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on foreign policy issues.

Serbos spoke to the BHMA International Edition for a feature entitled “Regional Scrutiny Over Possible Trump2.0; Kamala Harris Admin”, in August 2024.

An associate professor in international politics at the Democritus University of Thrace, Prof. Serbos has previously served as the scientific director at the ministry of foreign affairs and as a special adviser in other ministries as well. He also previously served as the diplomatic adviser for current PASOK party president Nikos Androulakis.

The noted Greek academic stood as a candidate in the European Parliament election on ruling New Democracy (ND) party’s ticket.

Serbos was born in Thessaloniki in 1976 and graduated as a full-scholarship student of secondary level Anatolia College. He studied international relations at the University of Macedonia (BA), the London School of Economics & Political Science (MSc) and the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (PhD).

His policy experience includes consulting memberships at Gerson Lehrman Group’s Policy & Economics Council.

In 2012, he was selected as SUSI Scholar of the US Institute on American Politics and Political Thought. For the academic year 2014-2015, he was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship at The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Pittsburgh’s EU Center of Excellence.

His research interests focus on foreign policy analysis (Turkey, US, EU), European integration and trans-Atlantic relations.
