Wi-Fi 7 has received certification from Wi-Fi-Alliance and will be ‘running’ in 2024, promising high speeds and reliable signal thanks to a new wireless connectivity protocol known as Multiple Link Operation (MLO).

After a year of development it is due to become the official current version signaling the next generation of wireless home internet. Wi-Fi 7 devices will be compatible with the existing Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 5 devices.

There advantage will be their incredibly high speed and their efficiency, leading to the development of new technological products such as smart phones, portable computers and routers in 2024 that will adopt this standard.

According to Wi-Fi Alliance, Wi-Fi 7 will be exceptional for streaming and gaming. Kevin Robinson, CEO of the Wi-Fi Alliance, stated to The Verge that Wi-Fi 7 is the ‘first generation built from the ground up’ for the 6GHz band, the fastest wireless spectrum utilized for the first time by Wi-Fi 6E devices.

Its performance based on the MLO protocol gives a device the ability to connect to a router through two connections utilizing both of them, transmitting data through the fastest one.
