An earthquake measuring 4.1 in magnitude on the Richter scale was recorded at 15.11 (13.11 GMT) on Monday off the western coast of the large island of Crete.
According to revised figures released by the Athens Observatory’s Geodynamic Institute, the tremor’s epicenter was located eight kilometers southwest of the Falasarna site, and with a focal depth measured at five kilometers.
No damages were reported from the specific quake on Monday.
The wider southern Aegean region experienced a “seismic swarm” in late January and early February this year, which generated moderate but repeated quakes in a sea region between the islands of Santorini, Anafi, Ios and Amorgos.
