90-Year-Old Driver Caught Going the Wrong Way in Greece

Police stopped the driver on the Attiki Odos highway after finding him traveling against traffic near Koropi. His driving license had expired in 2018, authorities said

A 90-year-old driver was stopped early Monday, after being found traveling in the wrong direction on the Attiki Odos highway near Athens, causing concern among other motorists.

According to authorities, officers from the Attiki Odos Traffic Police Department spotted a passenger car traveling in the opposite direction in the left lane near Koropi.

Police immediately followed the vehicle and managed to stop it at the entrance to the Attiki Odos, in the direction of Markopoulo.

The driver was identified as a 90-year-old man who did not have a valid driver’s license with him. Authorities found that his license had expired in 2018.

The Attiki Odos Traffic Police Department filed a case against the driver for dangerous driving and violations of Greece’s traffic code.

He was also issued an administrative fine of €440.
