About 30 Passengers Injured as Bus Collides with Tram in Piraeus

Several people sustained minor injuries in the crash and were taken to hospital by EKAV ambulances, while the exact causes are under investigation

A serious traffic accident occurred at around 7 p.m. in Piraeus, near the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, when a city bus collided with a tram on Mikras Asias Street, close to the exit to Grigoriou Lambraki Avenue.

Traffic police, fire service units, and ambulances of EKAV (Hellenic National Center of Emergency Care) rushed to the scene to assist with the rescue operation and transfer of the injured to Athens hospitals.

According to initial reports, around 30 passengers sustained minor injuries in the collision.

The accident happened as the bus had stopped at a designated stop for passengers to disembark, when the tram rammed into it. The exact causes of the crash are currently under investigation by the Piraeus Traffic Police.
