Acquisition of 4th Belharra Frigate Sealed

The Defence and Intervention Frigate (FDI), built by France's Naval Group, will be named Themistocles

Greece’s acquisition of a fourth French-made “Belharra” (a Defence and Intervention Frigate or simply FDI) was officially sealed this month with the signing of the procurement by the head of the armed forces’ general directorate for defense investments and armaments, following approval by a top government council and ratification in Parliament last month.
The signing of the relevant contract was made on Friday and announced on Monday.
The contract for the fourth FDI destined for the Hellenic Navy, to be named “Themistocles”, includes provisions for a portion of the construction to be assumed by Greek companies in the country.
Naval Group, the shipbuilder, and the Greek side have announced that the new frigate will deploy ballistic missiles.
