Greece’s Ministry of Education has forwarded all documentation related to the February 7 incidents at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) to the Thessaloniki Court of Appeal Prosecutor’s Office, which has already launched a preliminary investigation.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the ministry said it had received and reviewed all requested evidence from the university and the Thessaloniki Police Directorate before transmitting the full case file to judicial authorities.
The move comes as authorities seek to clarify the circumstances surrounding the events that took place on and around the university campus earlier this month.
At the same time, the ministry is awaiting the findings of an internal sworn administrative inquiry initiated by the university. The report is expected to assess any potential responsibilities or omissions and will be evaluated in conjunction with the broader body of evidence.
According to the ministry, the investigation will be “full, documented and substantive.” It stressed that any actions or failures to act will be examined thoroughly and in accordance with the provisions and safeguards of the applicable law.
