Athens police evacuated the River West shopping center on Kifisou Avenue on Friday following a bomb threat.
Authorities said the emergency call was made at 2:26 p.m. by an unidentified person, who claimed that an explosive device had been placed inside the mall. The caller did not provide a timeframe for a possible detonation.
Police units were immediately dispatched to the site, including a team from the Department of Explosive Devices Disposal. Officers began systematic checks throughout the premises to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.
The evacuation was carried out as a precaution, and inspections of the shopping center were ongoing.
