Temporary road closures will be in place in central Athens on Sunday morning as authorities implement traffic measures to support the Athens Santa Run 2025 and ease congestion

Drivers in Athens are advised to plan ahead on Sunday, December 21, 2025, as traffic restrictions will be enforced in the city center due to the Athens Santa Run 2025.

According to Greek police, vehicle circulation will be temporarily and gradually suspended between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. along several major streets in central Athens. The measures are intended to ensure the safe conduct of the sporting event and to minimize disruption for both participants and residents.

The affected roads include key thoroughfares in the historic and commercial heart of the city, with closures applying to the full length of each street as well as to nearby side streets up to the first parallel road. These routes include Piraeus Street (between Iera Odos and Omonia Square), Athinas Street, Ermou Street, Agion Asomaton Street, Mitropoleos Street, Karagiorgi Servias Street, Thermopylon Street and Kolokynthous Street.
