Attiki Odos Closures for Six Days Until Feb 22

Traffic toward Athens International Airport will be disrupted along an 8 km stretch due to major maintenance works, with several entrances closed and alternative routes advised by traffic authorities

Drivers in Athens are facing significant disruption on the Attiki Odos motorway, as traffic restrictions remain in place through February 22 due to heavy maintenance works.

Authorities have announced a full closure of an approximately 8-kilometer stretch in the direction of Athens International Airport, from the Aspropyrgos entrance to the Fyli entrance.

In addition, entrance ramps toward the airport will be closed at the interchanges of Mandra, Magoula, Aspropyrgos and Aigaleo.

Alternative Routes for Drivers

Traffic police and motorway operators are urging motorists to plan ahead and use alternative routes during the six-day disruption. The recommended detours are as follows:

  • Toward central Athens: via Athens Avenue.
  • Toward Lamia (northbound): via Athens Avenue and Kifisou Avenue toward Lamia.
  • Toward the airport: via Athens Avenue and Kifisou Avenue toward Lamia, then through the Metamorfosi interchange toward the airport.

The measures are part of scheduled large-scale maintenance works aimed at improving road conditions
