The body of a man, tied to a chair with plastic tie wraps and showing signs of torture, was found inside an apartment in an inner-city Athens neighborhood on Friday. The victim was identified as a 31-year-old Ukrainian national.
A second man was found inside the same unit, located in the Aghios Panteleimonas district, severely injured.
The latter man reportedly freed himself and called authorities.
He told police that four unknown suspects broke into the apartment and assaulted him and the victim without any previous provocation.
A major police presence was fielded at the site, with a coroner dispatched to the scene.
