A serious incident of violence occurred early Tuesday in Zografou, an Athens district, when a car driver physically assaulted a city bus operator following a minor traffic dispute. The attack left the 36-year-old bus driver hospitalized, while the assailant fled the scene and remains at large.
According to information cited in Greek media, the confrontation began when the driver of a private vehicle became irritated that the bus operator—who was driving a Route 230 bus—allegedly failed to signal while turning onto Iroon Polytechneiou Avenue.
Witnesses reported that the car driver exited his vehicle, approached the bus, and punched the bus driver repeatedly in the head and body, all in front of passengers and pedestrians. The assault unfolded within seconds, after which the attacker returned to his car and drove away.
Emergency medical services arrived promptly and transported the injured driver to KAT Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
