A freak accident left a 50-year-old man dead in central Greece, near the city of Larissa, on Wednesday afternoon after a chain saw he was using to cut branches while atop a tree slipped from his hand and nearly cut off his leg.
The man fell subsequently from the tree and sustained a massive loss of blood, with first responders arriving at the scene in a short time and later transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
The chain saw reportedly severed the unfortunate man’s main femoral artery.
An investigation was ordered into the circumstances surrounding the fatal mishap.
