All children at the Girls’ Orphanage in Patras, in the Peloponnese, were safely evacuated on Saturday afternoon after a fire broke out.

According to local media reports, the fire started in one of the dormitory rooms, prompting the immediate mobilization of the fire department and police.

Firefighters arrived quickly at the scene with three fire engines and seven firefighters.

According to fire service sources, the fire was extinguished without requiring direct intervention from the firefighting units, as it had already gone out by the time they arrived. All children were safely evacuated from the building as a precaution.

An ambulance from the National Emergency Aid Center (EKAV) was also dispatched to the scene as a preventive measure.
