Shoppers across Greece are heading out on Christmas Eve to complete last-minute purchases for holiday meals and gifts, as stores continue to operate under the festive opening schedule.
Retail shops opened in the morning and will remain open until the evening, depending on each business’s choice. At a minimum, stores are expected to close at 7:00 p.m., while some may stay open until as late as 9:00 p.m. Supermarkets will also close at 9:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
The extended holiday schedule will remain in effect over the coming days, with closures on public holidays and adjusted hours between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

- Wednesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve): 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day): Closed
- Friday, December 26: Closed
- Saturday, December 27: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Sunday, December 28: 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Monday, December 29: 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, December 30: 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve): 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Thursday, January 1: Closed
- Friday, January 2: Closed
From Saturday, January 3, 2026, retail stores, shopping centers, and supermarkets will return to their regular operating hours.
