Changes will be in effect across Athens’ public transport network during the Christmas period, affecting trams, buses and metro services from Tuesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve) through Friday, December 27. During these days, all means of public transport will operate according to Sunday and public holiday schedules, transport authorities said.
In addition to the holiday timetable, several temporary route modifications will be implemented on specific bus lines due to scheduled events and technical works in central Athens and other parts of Attica.
In the city centre and on routes connecting to Athens International Airport, bus lines 400 and X95 will operate with partial and temporary changes between 01:00 and 05:00 on Tuesday, December 23, within the municipality of Athens.
In Elefsina, bus line 862 will follow a modified route from 08:00 to 15:00 on Tuesday, December 23, due to technical works on Thiron Street.
Further changes are planned for Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, when bus line 704 will operate with a temporary route adjustment between 11:00 and 14:00 in the areas of Agioi Anargyroi and Kamatero.
In Piraeus, bus line 826 will be partially modified from 07:00 to 15:00 due to roadworks on Patras Street. This change will also remain in effect on Saturday, December 27.
Authorities advise passengers to allow extra travel time and to check updated route information before commuting during the holiday period, as services will be reduced and deviations may occur across the network.
